Finally, I’ve come back to earth, finished off and caught up since coming home after my vacation.

I spent three weeks in Europe catching up with family (some after 32 years), touring and being thoroughly spoilt.  I now am certain there is no place like home but for me, I have two places I can call home; my birth home and my cultural home and each one has its own uniqueness and how lucky am I to be able to have enjoyed them and able to be grateful for that.

I have enjoyed some beautiful summer weather, unusual for me to do in June and have returned to winter.  Yes it’s cold, well it is winter but some days have been simply glorious, crystal morns with frost covering everything and then the whole place bathed in golden sunshine, this world is a jewel.

I’ve had a look at the local shire sites for events in and around the area and couldn’t see much happening but I know for a fact there is a plethora of theatre and dance going on, so if you are interested in the arts perhaps getting in contact with local drama groups such as: The Maffra Dramatic Society, The Wellington Entertainment Centre, The Stratford Courthouse (which house art exhibition and theatrical events) and also The Latrobe Arts Centre will give you some idea of what we get up to on a winters day or evening.

Frankly, up until now I hadn’t had the pleasure of enjoy such things as the local arts culture, theatre and dance but recently Ron and I have had some wonderful opportunities to see our local talent up front and personal and we have been pleasantly surprised.

I’m sure if there is something you are particularly interested in, the wonderful volunteers at our local tourist centers would be more than happy to guide you on the right path.  For instance the annual Maffra/Sale Dog Show is happening at the end of August as is the 10th Anniversary Rock n Roll night of the S’coolhouse Rock of Maffra that promises to be a night of movin’ & a shakin.  And of course the local footy teams have been putting on some great footy matches.

We’d love to show you what Gippsland has to offer all year round, it’s a beautiful part of the world and we hope to see you soon.
